Put the Booking Engine on your website

The Booking Engine inside the pages of your website, in a box or behind a button

What this screen is forYour Booking Engine, inside your website

The screen is called «Put the Booking Engine on your website». You open it from the «Booking Engine» page, «Property Settings» tab, below «Site URL»; or from the code icon on the «Booking Engine» card in the Property section.

Here you prepare the code to paste into your website: guests book without leaving your pages and, after paying, come back to you. The Manager and the Assistant see this screen, the same roles that configure the Booking Engine.

Authorised websitesWhere the Booking Engine agrees to open

At the top of the screen there is «Property website»: your website's address, for example https://www.hotelrosa.com or hotelrosa.com, at most 80 characters. You change it there and save it with «Save website»; to remove it, empty the field and save. A page is fine too (a Facebook profile, for example), but only a domain without a page can count as an authorised website. The property website applies to all properties in your account: if you change it from one property, it changes for the others too, and every property with an empty authorised websites list uses it.

The Booking Engine opens only inside the websites in the «Authorised websites» list: it is what stops any other site from framing your bookings. Type only the domain, for example hotelrosa.com: no https, no pages, ports or parameters, no IP addresses or asterisks. A domain with accented letters is fine as it is: Vezpa converts it. www and subdomains (book.hotelrosa.com) are already included.

  • If the list is empty and the «Property website» is a real domain, that one applies: the screen suggests it with «Use this one». If you change the website, the suggestion follows the new one.
  • If there is no domain at all, the screen says so in red: the Booking Engine will not show on your website until you add one.
  • At most 10 websites. Remember «Save websites»: the code works only on saved websites.
A property website with a page in it (a Facebook page, a site on someone else's platform) does not count: authorising its domain would open the Booking Engine to anyone with a page there.

How to show itThree ways, one code

WayWhat the guest sees
«Inside the page»The Booking Engine in a box as wide as the page, which grows by itself at every step, with no inner scroll bars.
«Button here»A button where you paste the code. When tapped, the Booking Engine opens in a panel over the page, full screen on a phone.
«Fixed corner button»The same panel, opened by a button always visible at the bottom right. Only one per page.

The panel closes with the X at the top, by tapping outside it or with the Esc key. The same page can hold several codes: for example the corner button and, on a room's page, a box with that room alone.

The optionsLanguage, accommodation, SPA, button text

  • «Language»: with «Automatic (the page's language)» the Booking Engine reads the language of the page it is pasted in and uses it if it is one of your Booking Engine's languages; otherwise it uses your default language. You can also fix one.
  • «Accommodation»: «All», or a single one, which the Booking Engine shows on its own. Handy on that room's page.
  • «Show SPA and shop»: appears only when the SPA is on. Switched off, the Booking Engine on your website does not show the SPA and shop section.
  • «Button text»: only in the two button ways. At most 60 characters. Left empty, the button says «Book» in the guest's language. The colours are always your Booking Engine's.

Preview, code and agencyTry, copy, send

The screen shows a preview of the chosen way, in your Booking Engine's colours. «Open the preview in the browser» opens the real Booking Engine in the chosen way, on a test page: a booking made there is a real booking.

The code below follows your choices. «Copy the code» if you paste it yourself, where it should appear on the page. «Send to your web agency» prepares a message with the code, the authorised websites and the link to the guide for whoever runs your site. «Link and QR» gives the direct link to the Booking Engine and its QR code, for flyers, cards and social media.

You paste the code once. Colours, languages and accommodation changed in the Booking Engine reach your website by themselves; copy the code again only if you change the way, a fixed language, the accommodation, the button text or «Show SPA and shop», or if you activate, change or deactivate the Booking Engine's «Custom domain»: the code carries the address the Booking Engine opens from, and the screen reminds you of this under the code.

After paymentThe guest comes back to your website

Card payment always opens full page, on Stripe's secure site. After paying, the guest comes back to the page of your website they started from and sees «Booking confirmed», with the dates, the accommodation and the link to their booking, which opens in a new tab. The same happens when the booking needs no online payment.

If they cancel the payment, they come back to the same page and find the rooms they had chosen.

The summary on the page shows once, for half an hour: whoever reloads the page later sees the title «Your booking» and reads that the summary is in the email. The return works only from the https pages of authorised websites; from a page outside the list the guest stays on Vezpa, as with a direct link.

If something does not add upThe most frequent doubts, with the short answer

  • The box stays blank or says the page cannot be shown. The page's domain is not among the authorised websites, or you did not save them.
  • The code does nothing. Some editors strip scripts (a text block instead of an HTML block), or a cookie banner blocks external scripts until the guest accepts. The Booking Engine on your website uses no cookies: the code can be marked as necessary.
  • On Wix the box does not appear. Wix's HTML element runs in a Wix frame on another domain: there use the «Fixed corner button» from the site's custom code, or a button with the link from «Link and QR».
  • After paying the guest ended up on Vezpa. The page they started from was not on an authorised website, or was not https.
  • The screen shows only the authorised websites. The Booking Engine has no address yet: choose it under «Site URL», on the Booking Engine page.
  • I want to change the button colours. Change them in «Site appearance», on the Booking Engine page (Manager only): the button follows by itself.

The guide for whoever pastes the code

For your web agency there is a public guide, no login needed: Web agency guide. It is the link sent by «Send to your web agency».
